ATLANTIS RESORT PARADISE ISLAND
By Paula Hughes Court

Atlantis Resort Paradise Island,  which rises magically from the
turquoise lagoons and blue Atlantic of the Bahamas, is a resort
destination that is redefining family entertainment in the tropics.
Atlantis offers more than 2,300 guest rooms, 35 restaurants, bars
and lounges, a 34 acre waterscape, the worlds largest outdoor
aquarium, 11 exhibit lagoons with over 200 species of tropical fish, a
100 foot viewing tunnel of the Predator Lagoon with sharks,
barracudas and stingrays, and a lazy river ride.

ATLANTIS RESORT PARADISE ISLAND ACTIVITIES
The focal point of its unique family entertainment experience is the
11 million gallon fresh- and salt-water waterscape, cascading
waterfalls, a seemingly endless stretch of beach that has been
called the most beautiful in the world, and a assortment of exhibit
lagoons and underwater formations displaying 200 species of
marine life, consisting of 50,000 live animals, ranging from schools
of sharks to rainbows of tropical fish.

FUN AT ATLANTIS RESORT PARADISE ISLAND
A life-size replica of an ancient Mayan temple, surrounded by jungle,
features five water slides - two of which catapult riders through a
lagoon of sharks. The Leap of Faith slide offers the daring and
adventurous a 60-ft. almost-vertical drop from the top of the Temple,
propelling riders at a tremendous speed through a clear acrylic
tunnel submerged in the shark-filled lagoon.

The Serpent slide, 48 ft. up the Temple, spins its riders into the
blackness of the Temple’s mysterious core before they emerge
through the shark-filled lagoon at a leisurely “shark-viewing” pace.
The Challengers, two high-speed dueling slides and the Jungle
Slide, which meanders through exotic jungle and caves, provide
more thrills and excitement.

Others, for younger riders, offer a gentler trip into pools connected by
still other water slides. Among the swimming areas: a formal pool, a
zero-entry pool, a children’s pool, a half-mile Lazy River Ride and, of
course, saltwater lagoons, including a seven-acre snorkeling
lagoon, and the ocean itself.

OTHER ACTIVITIES AT ATLANTIS RESORT PARADISE ISLAND
Other recreational opportunities at Atlantis include all manners of
sports activities. The Sports Center at Atlantis features ten all-
weather tennis courts, a four-lane lap pool, basketball and volleyball
courts and an 18-hole, par-three golf course designed by PGA
professionals. For golfers desiring championship play, there is the
Tom Weiskopf designed 18-hole Ocean Club Golf Course. The
luxury Mandara Spa at Atlantis provides a complete range of sensory-
pleasing treatments and services to rejuvenate the body and the
spirit.

ATLANTIS RESORT CASINO
The Entertainment Center, featuring the largest casino in The
Bahamas, is the focal point of 100,000 square feet of gaming, dining
and entertainment space.

ATLANTIS DINING
Atlantis restaurants and lounges cater to all tastes, each with its own
theme or style. These include the Atlas Bar & Grill, with its video café,
and the elegant Five Twins, with its cigar bar, sushi bar, and dance
floor, both offering indoor and outdoor dining in the casino. The
resort’s three main restaurants are festive tributes to the world’s
national cuisine’s and bountiful dining, including an international
marketplace in the Royal Towers. Fathoms, a dramatically beautiful
seafood restaurant, and the Café at the Great Hall of Waters afford
picture window views into The Dig.

THE DIG AT ATLANTIS
The Dig is a remarkable journey into the imagination: underwater
boulevards of the city of Atlantis inhabited by giant sharks and rays,
magnificent chambers, laboratories with remarkable inventions,
treasures guarded by creatures of the sea, all waiting to be
discovered.
