Our look at three spectacular new resort openings in Bali
Three Spectacular New Bali Luxury Resorts
Although international tourism was on hold in Bali for more than two years, it has not stopped the development of some very exciting new properties in Indonesia’s top destination. At Khiri Travel we’re always looking out for those resorts that are a little out of the ordinary. We prefer the smaller ones, with more personal attention for their guests. And the ones in special locations. For this month’s newsletter our Indonesia MD Aini has selected three recently opened Bali luxury resorts, each with a very different character and all in beautiful locations.
Kappa Senses Ubud - for Spa Enthusiasts
This boutique resort with only 76 suites and villas is set to open in September and will be a unique addition to Ubud’s never ending list of accommodations. Kappa Senses distinguishes itself from other villa resorts with its top quality range of spa and wellness arrangements at the in-house OmTara Spa by Clarins. The thoughtfully designed luxury resort is only ten minutes away from Ubud town offering great views from some of the villas to surrounding rice fields. The suites are constructed at an elevation and connected by an elevated walkway around the second pool, surrounded by lush gardens – you’ll feel like you’re in the jungle.
The highlight of the resort is OmTara Spa by Clarins. Covering more than 1000m2, it boasts seven treatment rooms, beauty and hair salons, vitality pools, gym, steam room, sauna and Vichy shower. The spa is operated by Clarins, founded in 1954 in Paris, so you’ll be guaranteed to experience the best of treatments available in Ubud.
Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape - Stunning Mountain Views in the Middle of Nature
Nestled in the beautiful hills between Ubud and Kintamani, in the small village of Buahan, Banyan tree has developed this unique, no walls no doors ‘naked’ concept. A true boutique property with only 16 villas, built entirely from Indonesian hardwoods. Because there are so few villas, you’ll feel as though you’re at your spacious private home. The villas blend in well with the surrounding nature and its sounds, each of them equipped with a plunge pool.
While this hotel is situated far away from Ubud’s tourism hotspots, the hotel is equipped with top-end facilities to pamper you during your entire stay. There are multiple spa pavilions, a yoga deck, the Botanist bar and the Open Kitchen restaurant. Staff will happily invite you to see where most of the kitchen’s ingredients come from, at their very own organic garden on-site. Should you feel the need for physical activity, take the 300+ steps down to the river and waterfall, or opt for trekking in the nearby village and rice fields.
Lost Lindenberg - Design Hotel on a Deserted Beach
Often associated with the busy traffic along its main road to/from East Java, West Bali is unfortunately easily overlooked. Medewi is known for its surf culture but the nearby village of Pekutatan is lesser known. It is, however, home to a handful of excellent properties, of which Lost Lindenberg is our new favourite. This design hotel with only eight rooms is really something else. From the moment you step past its Las Vegas-style neon sign, you forget about the busy world outside and enter an oasis of beauty, nature and design.
The four treehouse-like towers each have two rooms with stunning garden and ocean views. The wide black sand beach is just steps away from the bar and pool and is perfect for an afternoon stroll or even bike ride. With so few rooms and the excellent hospitality skills of all management and staff you’ll feel at home immediately. The evening drinks served at the bonfire or the long communal table where meals are served enable you to get to know your fellow travellers.
